While it is a good idea to set a routine and follow it MOST of the time, it would be detrimental to follow it faithfully EVERY day. As part of a successful socialization process, birds must learn to accept changes readily. They must be taught to understand that sometimes changes *will* occur, and that these changes aren't something that they should be frightened of.

A good way to begin teaching socialization is to vary the time of day that things occur which affect your bird directly. Introduce different activities. Feed him at a different time. Feed him different things. If he insists on apples for breakfast, offer grapes instead. Birds should be taught that changes are normal, are to be expected, and can be fun!
