Welcome to the home page for the
most recent member of the QuakerVille flock.
In April of 2005 we were alerted to the fact
that a Quaker Parrot in the South Florida area needed to be re-homed.
Usually the birds are in good shape when the call comes in and we
facilitate a safe transfer from one home to another. We try to not get
personally involved with the transfer, it seems to make the job a little
easier when we don't get to close to the bird being transferred.
On a Saturday afternoon Jo and I went to pickup
a 4 year old Quaker and cage expecting him to be healthy and ready to
move to a new home. What we were presented with was a bird mauled by a
dog a week earlier and about to die.
