A "hand-TAMED" bird is one that will step onto your hand. A "hand-TRAINED" bird will not only step up onto your hand, but will remain there and allow you to gently restrain his/her feet with your thumb. This type of training is effective in preventing unnecessary falls/injuries due to frightened birds taking/attempting flight when being physically transported.
